Why do Inspirational Quotes Motivate Us?

Spread the love

Introduction

There are many inspirational quotes on Pinterest, Facebook, and everywhere else. However, do they motivate us to achieve our goals and inspire us to generate new ideas? The answer is yes! I enjoy reading notes from James Clear’s 3-2-1 newsletter. In his newsletter, he shares 3 short ideas, 2 quotes from others, and 1 question to ponder. I resonate with the quotes, giving me a few moments to contemplate. Using inspiration quotes as a reminder is part of my daily routine. I read these inspirational quotes each morning when I get ready for work. It reminds me of where I want to focus my energy, thoughts, and actions during my day. My previous blog post, Check-in Activities to Engage Students, also touched on the power of quotes, encouraging students to share their favorite quotes.

The need for motivation

Sometimes in our lives, we feel low, frustrated, and unmotivated. The purpose of inspirational quotes is often to help people overcome these challenging times. Whether it’s from a book, movie, or famous person, these words of wisdom can help get us through the day. Motivating quotes have such a powerful effect on our minds and emotions. We are drawn to them because they speak directly to our need for hope. They give us a sense of control and make us feel like everything will be okay. And, in many cases, they remind us that we are not alone in our struggles. In my experience, motivational quotes increase my confidence and give me a greater sense of self-affirmation.

Using quotes to increase motivation

We’ve all seen them before. Short, sweet, and to the point. A motivational quote can be just the thing we need to get ourselves moving. When we read an inspirational quote, it speaks to us on a personal level. It could be the perfect words to describe how we’re feeling, or it could be something we needed to hear. Either way, these quotes resonate with us and help motivate us to keep going. Besides inspiring us, they’re also a great source of inspiration for those around us! As a way to motivate myself, I created some motivation stickers. These will be printed and placed where I will see them daily.

Encourage students to use motivation quotes

Maybe these motivation stickers can give students a quick boost of motivation when they feel stuck. They are short, memorable, and simple to read. Motivational quotes have the power of being relatable and easily understood by anyone. They offer inspiration in a way that relates to students’ own lives and experiences, so it’s not hard for them to see how these quotes could also apply to their situations. Students can use motivation quotes as a strategy to develop affective skills. They can collect motivational quotes or create their own. It is important to remind students that we don’t always need external sources of motivation but instead can rely on ourselves. Sometimes an inspirational quote is all we need for a little push in the right direction!

Conclusion

Whenever we need a pick-me-up, an inspirational quote can be just the thing to help us get back on track. Maybe we are feeling overwhelmed by a project at work, or perhaps we are facing a personal challenge. Whatever the case may be, reading an inspirational quote can give us the boost we need to keep going.
